About . . .Irish Artists
Pat Maher
Pat has won a number of awards for his paintings , which capture the essence of the lovely Southern Irish countryside through a variety of themes, ranging from sweeping evocations of the landscape around his home near Tullow, County Carlow to more intimate interiors and still-life studies.
He is an experienced watercolourist and painter in oils and acrylics.Although basically a figurative artist, his chief interest lies in capturing the subtleties of light and shade as reflected in his chosen subjects. Pat has also painted many portraits to commission.
He was invited to represent Ireland at the Florence Biennale in both 2003 and 2005, and exhibits his work widely throughout Ireland.
Jan Maher
Jan trained at Epsom School of Art, U.K. where her tutors included distinguished watercolourist Leslie Worth. Following a period working as a graphic designer in the 1970s she has concentrated on fine art since 1980, and has found an increasing demand for both her meticulous drawings, and her luminous watercolour landscape and floral paintings. Recently she has developed a keen interest in working in oils, seeing the technique as a way to further develop her ability to show the quality of light in and around her Carlow home.
Jan was also an invited artist to the Florence Biennale in 2003 and 2005, and shows her paintings through a number of galleries in Ireland. Additionally, she has recently been involved in painting miniatures, and her intricately painted work in this genre was exhibited at the Royal Miniaturist Society's Annual exhibition in Carlton House Terrace, London, in 2005.
